Last updated: 6 October 2026. App: Radio (com.hym.radio), published by HYM.
Radio is a live internet radio and podcast player for stations from around the world. This policy covers the Android and iOS apps.
We collect nothing ourselves. The app has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking of its own, and we (HYM) do not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. Your favorites, recently played list, selected country and settings are stored only on your device, inside the app's private storage. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
The one exception is advertising. The Android app shows ads served by Google, and Google's advertising software collects some data for that purpose. The next section explains what it collects and how you control it.
The Android app shows one banner ad on the full screen player. The ads are served by Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK, a Google component that is part of the app. This SDK collects the following and sends it to Google, which uses it for advertising (selecting, delivering and measuring ads), for analytics and for fraud prevention:
Google processes this data under its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy, and explains how it uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. We do not receive this data ourselves. All we see are aggregated reports about ad performance, with no information about individual users.
You control this data in the Android settings, under Google > Ads (on some phones Privacy > Ads): there you can delete your advertising ID, reset it, or opt out of ads personalization. When the advertising ID is deleted, the ads become non-personalized.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before any ad is requested, using Google's consent dialog. You can change your choice at any time from the About screen in the app, under "Ad privacy settings". Without consent, the app requests only non-personalized ads or no ads at all.
The iOS app contains no advertising software and shows no ads.
The app connects to the internet only for the service itself:
Driving mode has a voice search button, and it is the only part of either app that involves the microphone. Nothing listens in the background, and nothing listens when the app starts: it happens only after you tap that button, and only while driving mode is on screen. The system asks for your permission the first time.
The speech recognition is the phone's own, not ours, and it differs by platform:
We never receive the audio. Neither app records it to a file or keeps it. All either app receives is the recognised text, which it uses to pick a station and then discards.
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. It requires no sign-in, and apart from the advertising data described above, which Google handles, it collects no data from anyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
All streams are live broadcasts transmitted publicly by the stations themselves. The app does not host, store, or record any broadcast. Names, logos, and broadcasts remain the property of the broadcasting stations and are shown for identification only. The app is not affiliated with or endorsed by any station. Podcasts work the same way: shows are found through Apple's public directory and played from the publisher's own public feed, and nothing is downloaded, mirrored or re-hosted by us. Station owners, podcast publishers and other rights holders can request a correction or removal at webhym@gmail.com, or by editing the Radio Browser community directory directly. Removal requests ship in the app's next update.
We (HYM) hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Favorites, the recently played list and settings stay in the app's storage on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. The advertising data described above is held by Google, not by us, and Google keeps it for the periods described at policies.google.com/technologies/retention. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in the Android settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to object to its use. We hold no data about you. Because the advertising data is collected and held by Google, those requests are made through Google: the Ads section of your Android settings and the tools described in Google's privacy policy. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland you can withdraw your ad consent at any time from the About screen in the app, under "Ad privacy settings". You can also write to webhym@gmail.com with any request and we will answer it.
When this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and material changes are described in the app's "What's new" notes in the store.
